Physical trauma, surgery, infection or psychological stress sometimes precedes symptoms of fibromyalgia. But it is also not unusual for there to be no specific event trigger with symptoms building over a period of time.

Our treatment includes:

  • Cold Laser Treatment ...Helps relieve painful trigger points.
  • Myofascial Release...To eliminate trigger points in the muscles.
  • Neuromuscular Re-education...To stimulate and retrain your muscles.
  • Lymphatic Stimulation...To speed lymphatic drainage and increase circulation.
  • Ultrasound Therapy...To reduce inflammation and swelling in and around the muscle tissue.
  • Infrared Light Therapy...To increase circulation and relieve tender points.
  • Muscle Stimulation...To relax spastic muscles.
  • Joint Manipulative Therapy...To restore motion to fixated joints.

Conditions Treated in Oakbrook Terrace

Headaches & Migraines

Headaches and migraines resolved with laser treatment!

What does this mean for you and your headaches you might ask?

Your headache, even if it is a migraine type headache, may not be caused by a problem in your head. Now, there are headaches that do not respond to specific conventional care and medication. These headaches continue to come back after the medication wears off. Migraines, tension headaches and general headaches can usually be resolved with laser treatment and other modalities to reduce pressure on the head and neck. This means that you must make sure that the joints in your neck are moving properly if you want to be free of headaches.

How do I know if my headaches can be helped by this treatment?

A very simple test is now available at our office. This test uses the latest technology to see if there is in fact muscle tension in the neck region which may be causing headaches. This test is known as an EMG or Electromyogram. It is a fast, painless, non-invasive test which measures the amount of muscle tension in the muscles of the neck.

Once this test is completed (approximately 10 minutes) the Doctor will determine if you are in fact suffering from cervicogenic headaches. After your consultation, EMG Evaluation and FREE trial treatment you can decide whether or not you would like to continue with further treatment to resolve your headaches.

Is that all that is necessary to determine a treatment for my headaches?

No. If after you complete the EMG test YOU decide that this is a treatment you would be interested in, the Doctor will continue with a full consultation and examination of the head and neck region.

Restless Leg Syndrome

If you are one of millions of people suffering from Restless Leg Syndrome and without proper treatment you can lose quality of sleep resulting in fatigue during the day and interference with work, social life and recreational activities. Sufferers usually report a sensation or urge to move the legs while at rest (especially in a recliner, automobile or while lying down).

Causes of Restless Leg Syndrome often are diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and peripheral neuropathy. These diseases share structural problems caused by muscle contractions related to the condition.

A new treatment is available that helps relieve the symptoms of Restless Leg Syndrome and therefore allowing the patient to sleep more soundly and increase their activities during the day in order to maintain a healthier lifestyle. The treatment includes stabilization of the legs and pelvic region by stretching the leg muscles and restoring nerve flow to the appropriate muscle groups with a Cold Laser treatment. The laser increases circulation in the affected areas in order to restore proper nerve flow to the muscles. Often incorporated is an infrared light treatment which causes a chemical reaction to increase circulation to the affected tissues.

Studies show most patients see results in as little as one week. Best of all, most insurance companies and Medicare will now cover the cost of both assessment and treatment.

Muscle Pain

New laser treatment provides relief!

If you are one of millions of people suffering from muscle pain and without proper treatment you can lose quality of sleep resulting in fatigue during the day and interference with work, social life and recreational activities. Sufferers usually report an altered sensation or aching in the muscles while at rest or during activity.
Causes of muscle pain can be diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy as well as many other inflammatory conditions. These diseases share structural problems caused by muscle contractions related to the condition.

Herniated Discs

Spinal decompression is most often used to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and the surrounding nerves caused by the following conditions:

  • Herniated disc
  • Slipped disc
  • Sciatica
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Degenerative disc disease

The first phase of treatment begins with a treatment course targeted to the disc level identified by diagnosis. Decompression is unloading due to distraction and positioning which utilizes distinct angles of degree to manipulate a specific disc level. This gentle decompression works to relieve neurocompression and may promote regression of a bulge or herniation over time by means of a negative pressure state, or vacuum, within the disc. This treatment method also works to create an environment within the disc of increased nutrient flow. This rehydration process has been shown in many post treatment MRI's and is highly beneficial to the healing process. The second phase of treatment is experienced as a secondary oscillation modality which is directed alternatively to the surrounding muscle groups at the treatment site. Typical muscle guarding and straining may be significantly reduced with the relaxing effect of this oscillation modality. Patients report a significant increase in comfort during treatment incorporating this modality along with the primary treatment to the spine, as proprioceptor firing is reduced.

The changes in pressure surrounding the disc through the cycling action of the machine facilitate blood flow through the disc. Fresh blood, oxygen, and nutrients flow in while cations, acids, and the breakdown products of metabolism are removed. Thus, natural healing and repair can proceed in tissues that previously were encumbered with high diffusion pressure, edematous tissues, and chronic irritation. Decompression therapy has helped thousands of low back pain patients return to active, pain-free lifestyles.

The majority of patients treated will require no further intervention. Some chronic cases may find it beneficial to continue on a preventative schedule of periodic treatments to maintain a symptom free lifestyle. This decision is made by the Doctor and patient on a case-by-case basis at the end of treatment. For patients with degenerative disc disease, maintenance or preventative treatments every few months may be considered.
Most patients have found this treatment to be a safe, pain-free and effective alternative to surgery. Decompression therapy is also effective for patients who have had spinal surgery and have not been completely satisfied with the results.
